Source: www.melbournestorm.com.auMelbourne Storm have today secured the signatures of hard working back rowers Ryan Hinchcliffe and Kevin Proctor, further evidence that their forward thinking, back to business approach continues.
Both players were key retention priorities for the club, with Hinchcliffe winning the 2010 Storm player of the year and Proctor progressing quickly through the Storm system to cement a regular spot in Head Coach, Craig Bellamy's, top squad.
Hinchcliffe, 26, has enjoyed an outstanding year both on and off the field, capped off by the announcement of a new two year contract.
"It's great to be staying with the club and I'm excited to secure the next couple of years of my career," Hinchcliffe said.
"I have developed a strong emotional attachment on the back of last year; I love the culture within the group and the direction under Craig's leadership.
"Growing up in Temora I was lucky enough to have a wonderful upbringing in a great rugby league town. Now Melbourne offers everything I need both personally and professionally.
"The last 12 months have been huge, especially getting engaged to my fiancee, Brooke, and we are both really excited about staying in this great city."
Proctor, 22, has been part of the Storm system since 2008 after joining the club straight from school. This contract extension will take him through until the end of 2014, making it seven years in Melbourne Storm colours at the tender age of only 25.
The likable, hardworking forward has enjoyed considerable success already by making his NRL debut in 2008 against the Dragons and winning a NYC premiership in 2009.
"I have been with the Storm since I left school and I'm really stoked to stay with the club for another 3 years.
"This year is an important one for me. I know my role and want to ensure I play my part in the team every week."
Storm coach Craig Bellamy was equally delighted about the re-signings, confirming they are an integral part of Melbourne Storm's future planning and key players in his current playing group.
"These are two very important signatures for our club," Bellamy said.
"I love coaching Ryan. He has a great attitude, is tough, resilient and you know what you get from him every day in everything he does.
"Kevin has really impressed me, especially with his leadership during the summer when our rep players were not here. Also his effort to go back onto the field against the Cowboys after taking some heavy knocks shows he is the type of player you want in your roster."

Melbourne Storm second-rower Sika Manu has suffered a grade 2 ligament tear and will miss 4-6 weeks.
The injury was sustained during the Storm's shock 34-6 loss against North Queensland last Monday night.
Meanwhile, both Kevin Proctor and Matt Duffie will be available to take on the Bulldogs next Monday night at AAMI Park in Melbourne.
Scans showed Proctor hasn't suffered any serious damage to the area surrounding his eye. There is still some swelling around this area and he will be monitored during the week, but is expected to play.
Duffie is back in full training after a shoulder injury has sidelined him for the last two games. He is available for selection.
Proctor has been named at prop for the clash against the undefeated competition leaders whilst Duffie hasn't been named in the 17 although Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy has hinted at making changes to the squad named.
