Raynor joins Featherstone

Former Great Britain international Gareth Raynor has joined 2011 Championship winners Featherstone Rovers.

The 33-year-old former Leeds, Hull FC, Crusaders and Bradford winger, who was sacked by the Bulls in September for a breach of club discipline, has signed a 12-month deal with Rovers, the club he supported as a youngster.

Featherstone coach Daryl Powell said, "Gareth has been a proven player, not just at Super League level, but at international level too."

Bradford Bulls have announced that Winger Gareth Raynor has signed a new one year contract with the club for the 2012 season. The club also has an option to retain the player for the 2013 season.

Raynor, who had a short spell with Crusaders after formerly being with Hull FC, joined the Bulls at the start of the 2011 season and has made 15 appearances, scoring 6 tries.

"I'm delighted to sign up. It's been tough in recent weeks with the results but it's a great set-up and a great club, said the winger.

"I just need a bit of consistency and game-time and I seem to be getting better and better. That comes with the more games you play, the more match fit you get and the smarter you get. I've probably never trained as hard at any time in the last five years as I'm doing now at Bradford. That's paying off and hopefully it will start to pay off for the team as well."

Mick Potter is delighted that Raynor is staying with the club:

"Gareth deserves a new contract. He's been playing well and he's a good type of guy, as far as the kind of people you want around the place. The guys enjoy playing and training with him and he's fitted in well. I'm happy to have him around for another year and it doesn't matter how old he is. He can still cut it with the best of them."
