Bradford Bulls have today announced that they have beaten off competition from two other Super League clubs to clinch the signing of prop forward Danny Sculthorpe on a two year contract.

Sculthorpe, who is 30 years old, started his career at Leeds and has played Super League for Wigan, Castleford and Wakefield and spent the latter part of last season on loan at Huddersfield Giants where he impressed Coach Nathan Brown with his attitude and his skills.

Bulls Coach Steve McNamara is delighted with the addition of Sculthorpe to his squad:

"Danny is an old-fashioned English-style front-rower, a real ball-playing forward. We needed to make another acquisition in that area with Sam leaving. Danny Sculthorpe is his own person but he's an outstanding footballer who has caused us trouble in the past.

"When I've coached against him, we've really had to counter him in terms of his fantastic off-load ability in any situation. He's one of a dying breed. He will suit the way we want to play the game."

Danny Sculthorpe can't wait to get started with the Bulls.

"I'm looking forward to a bit of stability and Bradford are a massive club. It's a big challenge and I cannot wait to get started. Odsal is a stadium where I've always enjoyed playing even as an away player. It will be even better to have that support behind me."

Korkidas and Sculthorpe in swap deal

Huddersfield and Wakefield today announced that they have agreed a swap deal that sees Giants Prop Michael Korkidas join the Wildcats on loan until the end of the season and Wildcats Prop Danny Sculthorpe join the Giants on loan until the end of the season.

Korkidas a former Wakefield player, having joined the Wildcats in 2003 from Sydney Roosters and established himself as a crowd-favourite, making 109 appearances for the club before joining Salford City Reds in 2006.

Giants Head Coach Nathan Brown said:

"We are really pleased for Michael that this opportunity has cropped up for him in first grade as its where its best for him to be playing week in week out. Danny Sculthorpe offers us different traits in the front row to what we have already got and whilst it's sad to see Korky move on as he is very popular here with everyone it will, I am sure, benefit both clubs and both players."

Wildcats Head Coach John Kear said "We are delighted that Michael will be returning to the club, he was here when I first joined the club and he was sad to leave back then, so we are delighted to have signed him for the rest of the season and look forward to getting him back into a Wildcats shirt."

The move takes effect immediately, with both players joining up with their new team-mates and will be available for their club's next engage Super League fixture.
