Source: www.qrl.com.auWynnum Manly coach Paul Green is expecting a fierce backlash from the Burleigh Bears when the Seagulls host the Gold Coast side in Sunday's round three clash at BMD Kougari Oval.
The Bears were beaten 32-6 by the Redcliffe Dolphins yesterday in a scoreline that caught many by surprise.
Intrust Super Cup fans were also left stunned by Wynnum Manly's ruthless performance against the Central Capras yesterday.
The Seagulls hammered the rebuilding Capras 84-6 at BMD Kougari Oval.
"It's important we just forget about that game ... it was a good boost to our for and against (record), but we've got to get our feet back on the ground starting on Tuesday at training because Burleigh will come to play," Green said.
After a tight opening which saw the Capras level at 6-all following an early Wynnum Manly try, the Seagulls clicked into full gear on their way to smashing a number of club records, including highest score and biggest winning margin.
"We dominated through the middle there and that gave blokes like Jake Granville plenty of room to move," Green said.
"I was pleased with our discipline and the way we were able to stick to our game."
Impressive recruit Sean Loxley cashed in with a four try haul, while premiership-winning halfback Matt Seamark made an encouraging return off the bench after minor off-season knee surgery.
For the Capras, skipper Tim Glasby never stopped trying but he'll need more support when the Central Queensland team plays Souths Logan in Gladstone this weekend.
WYNNUM MANLY SEAGULLS 84 (Sean Loxley 4, Matt Grieve 2, Junior Togia 2, Jake Granville 2, Peter Gubb, John Te Reo, Jacob Fauid, Luke Dalziel-Don, Dan Wallace tries; John Te Reo 7, Jacob Fauid 4, Jake Granville goals) def CQ CAPRAS 6 (Mitch Zornig try; Dan Pickering goal) at BMD Kougari Oval.

Source: www.qrl.com.auRedcliffe coach Anthony Griffin faces a tough week at the selection table, with Marty Turner due back and rookie half Matt Seamark named Players' Player from Sunday's 34-14 win against Souths Logan.
In a match which the Dolphins led 34-6 by the 50-minute mark, Seamark posted two tries and was a constant danger. A week beforehand he submitted a similar performance against Brisbane Broncos feeder club Aspley.
The youngster from Townsville has now thrown a spanner in the works, with NRL-experienced Turner ready to make his return from related back and hamstring problems.
Turner was a driving force in last year's grand final victory for Redcliffe, but is yet to play a fixture game this year.
"I'll have to see what I can do with them," said bemused coach Griffin, ahead of next Sunday's battle against similarly unbeaten Burleigh.
On reputation Turner should have the inside running, but Griffin has shown no hesitation to bringing 'big names' back through FOGS Cup first.
Nathan Tutt, Deon Bird, Trent Leis, Daniel Green, Kaine Manihera, Jamie Tomlinson and Gerard Parle have all featured with Redcliffe's reserves in recent weeks.
A former NRL player with Manly, Tutt was a late call-up for the Wizard Cup clash against Souths Logan, replacing Troy Lindsay (groin). Both Lindsay and Shannon Fish (ankle) are highly doubtful for the upcoming Burleigh game.
Two players who look assured of holding their position are benchmen Nick Walker and Palmer Wapau, again impressive with their injections off the bench.
Souths Logan sprang a late surprise by bringing Brandon Costin back at five-eighth in place of Paul Rolls, however the veteran pivot could not sway the outcome of the match.
Despite the loss the Magpies played with a high degree of physicality and fought until the final whistle. Certainly they will be no easy-beats against Aspley at Bishop Park this Saturday, 3pm.
Redcliffe's big game with Burleigh gets underway 3pm Sunday at Dolphin Oval.
REDCLIFFE 34 (Matt Seamark 2, Ryan Cullen, Rory Bromley, Mark Shipway, Nick Walker tries; Alwyn Simpson 5 goals) d SOUTHS LOGAN 14 (Michael Anschau, Scott Marks, Tanu Wulf tries; Brandon Coastin goal) at Davies Park.
