Prop Taylor the match winner for Hull KR

Scott Taylor was Hull KR's matchwinner as Salford City Reds were sent plunging to a second Easter defeat in Stobart Super League.

After a 36-10 loss at Huddersfield Giants on Friday, the Reds looked to be heading for victory when they led 10-6 with 10 minutes to go.

But prop Taylor charged over twice to seal victory in the mid-table clash.

Adam Neal made his first appearance of the season for the home side, who welcomed back Wayne Godwin from a two month lay-off with a rib injury.

Ashley Gibson also returned after missing the defeats by Wigan Warriors and Huddersfield.

Rovers were without Rhys Lovegrove, who was concussed after a clash of heads with team-mate Kris Welham in Friday's derby defeat by Hull FC.

Blake Green was still sidelined, with Jason Netherton missing his fourth match in a row and Dave Peterson making his debut.

Craig Hall correctly had an early try disallowed for Rovers, who piled on the pressure helped by three successive penalties.

Salford survived, with Matty Smith then only denied a touchdown by Welham after smart play by Daniel Holdsworth and Luke Patten.

The Australian duo combined again from a scrum move for Patten to dummy his way past Sam Latus after 12 minutes for his sixth try of the season but Holdsworth missed the straightforward conversion attempt.

Neither side could take control of an evenly-fought contest, but Rovers suffered a blow on the half hour with prop Joel Clinton hobbling off with an ankle injury.

Michael Dobson's probing kicks caused Salford problems, but a Danny Williams break from his own line cleared a danger.

Kiwi Vinnie Anderson had only been on the field two minutes when he was forced off with an arm injury and Rovers almost immediately went in front.

Dobson's grubber was pounced on by Lincoln Withers under the posts to fire his side 6-4 ahead five minutes before the break.

The greasy conditions made handling difficult and Salford missed a chance to go back in front when Gibson spilled a Holdsworth pass.

Gibson was able to celebrate 12 minutes from time by taking a long Matty Ashurst pass to go over after neat work by Patten and Joel Moon in the build-up.

Holdsworth's conversion made it 10-6, but Rovers were soon back in front when Taylor powered over and Dobson added the straightforward goal.

Rovers clinched victory when Taylor repeated the dose in the 78th minute and Dobson again converted.

Taylor commits future to Robins

Highly promising young forward Scott Taylor has signed a new two-year deal with Hull Kingston Rovers.

The 20-year old has come through the Robins Academy structure and made thirteen Super League appearances for the club, nine of which have come in 2011 as the prop really begins to break through onto the first team stage.

Despite rumoured interest from other Super League clubs Taylor says there is only one club he wants to be at to continue his progress.

"It's where I've learnt my trade and I've been part of the first team for three years now and I'm loving it," he commented after signing his new deal.

"I've just turned 20 so I'm really happy with my progress and hopefully I can get some more games before the season's out.

"We want to win trophies. The fans are the best in Super League and deserve some trophies. I just want to play regularly in Super League and hopefully get into double figures for games this year.

"I love this club. They've taught me everything I know and I'm happy to stay here for the rest of my career with the way I feel at the minute so I'm just looking forward to the next two years."

"Scott has got a lot of potential," said Rovers Head Coach Justin Morgan.

"He's got a really great work ethic for improving his game and he's got a thirst for knowledge.

"He's still only twenty but he's impressed me this year with his maturity on the training field and he has done well in the first team appearances he has made.

"He's hungry for more and I think we will see him make a big impact on the Super League stage in the next couple of years."
