Source: www.bulldogs.com.auThe Bulldogs Football Club has today confirmed a number of announcements which indicate they are moving on with business in their new home at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre.
The Bulldogs are excited to confirm promising utility / back-rower Lee Te Maari has extended his contract until 2010. Te Maari made his first grade debut in Round 6 last year against Parramatta and made seven first grade appearances in an injury-hampered season.
This signing is further good news for the Bulldogs' playing roster, coinciding with the recent contract extensions of captain Andrew Ryan, Luke Patten, Sonny Bill Williams and also Nick Kouparitsas.
Ironically, all of the above contract extensions were facilitated by Bulldogs Recruitment Manager Keith Onslow, who has today confirmed his resignation with the Bulldogs to return his initial NRL club, the Newcastle Knights.
Bulldogs Chairman Dr George Peponis commented:
"We are very sad to lose Keith, however, we do appreciate the reasons for his decision to resign and return home to his original club in Newcastle. We also appreciate the process he has undertaken to inform everyone involved.
"Keith has proven himself to be an astute Rugby League administrator who is well respected across all levels of the game, especially by head Coach Steve Folkes. He has done a terrific job over the past 2 years and he leaves the club in a position of strength for the future."Equally well respected Rugby League administrator Peter Mullholland, from the Penrith Panthers, will replace Onslow as the Bulldogs Recruitment Manager.
Mullholland joins the Bulldogs with an extensive history of Rugby League involvement, varying from Head Coach of the Western Reds to his current role of overseeing all Development and Community Portfolios within the Penrith Rugby League District.
Dr Peponis commented:
"Whilst we are disappointed about Keith's news, we feel very comfortable and excited about the confirmation of Peter Mullholland joining our staff roster.
"We appreciate the difficulty in finding someone of the calibre of Peter, who brings an enormous amount of knowledge and expertise to the table. He has big shoes to fill and he will be warmly welcomed at our Club.
"Equally importantly, we know Peter and Keith are very close and the changeover of confidential information will not be a problem. Again, this was another key point in our decision."The Bulldogs have also confirmed Acting Media and Community Relations Manager Frank Barrett has been appointed to the role permanently and will continue to be the direct contact for all items relating to those portfolios.
We would also like to encourage all supporters of the Bulldogs and the Australian Red Cross to join the players and staff this Friday, March 7, to donate blood. The Blood Service Donor Mobile will be at the Canterbury Leagues Club, Bridge Road Belmore, between 9am and 3pm. Please Phone Maria at Bulldogs reception on (02) 8762 6800 to secure a time to donate.
