King out for two weeks, Turner out for season

With the NRL finals only three weeks away, Melbourne Storm has been struck by injuries to key players Matt King and Steve Turner.

King suffered a fractured scaphoid bone in his right wrist during the first-half of Sunday's clash against the Broncos.

"He went in for surgery this morning to have a screw inserted into his wrist," said Mary Toomey, Storm's High Performance Unit Manager.

"We expect he will improve rapidly and at this stage should be back for the Titans game in Round 25."

Turner meanwhile looks set to miss the remainder of the season with ligament damage to his right knee, also sustained during the first-halfof the Broncos clash.

"Steve is having surgery this evening. He's having an arthroscope to assess and treat a lateral cartilage tear and a posterior cruciate tear in his right knee," said Toomey.

"Best case scenario is four to six weeks, but it's likely he won't be available for the remainder of the season."

Turner missed the entire 2005 season after sustaining an ankle injury during a pre-season practice match against the Broncos.

He also missed the start of this season with an ankle injury, again after playing the Broncos in a pre-season practice match.
