Vuna joined the Knights mid season from the Auckland Lions, making his debut against the Broncos in Round 11.
"It's fantastic for Cooper and I think very good for the Knights as well," said Knights Coach, Brian Smith.
"The chance for Cooper to come to the Knights and show us what he could do has shown he's grabbed that opportunity and made the most of it.
"When he got his confidence up and found some rhythm and combinations with his centre partner and the team generally he became a favourite with our fans and certainly proved he's a guy with a big future.
"I think he needs to use this as a confidence builder and an opportunity to go further in the game. It's certainly a bonus for him."Vuna will be best remembered by Novocastrians this season for his two try effort in the final Round of 2007, securing the Knights victory against the Tigers.
The Kiwis host Australia for the Centenary Test on October 14.
New Zealand has also named its Junior Kiwis train on squad featuring Newcastle's Sam Stewart Jnr, son of inaugural Knights Captain and former Kiwi Test Skipper, Sam Stewart.
Meanwhile, the Knights Premier League and Jersey Flegg squads are still in Premiership contention.
Both sides travel to Sydney tomorrow where Flegg will meet Canberra at 1.00pm at Ringrose Park, Wentworthville while Premier League plays Parramatta at Telstra Stadium at 5.35pm.

Source: www.newcastleknights.com.auFormer Warriors speedster, Cooper Vuna will join the Newcastle Knights mid-season in a deal that will see him at EnergyAustralia Stadium until at least the end of the 2008 season.
20-year-old Vuna first caught the eye of Coach, Brian Smith when he made his first grade debut for the Warriors in 2004 as a 17-year-old against Parramatta.
Smith has tracked Vuna's progress for the last three years and says he will join the Knights as a utility outside back.
"We're happy to be able to add such a versatile player to our outside depth," Smith said.
"We became aware last week he was available and was interested in joining us so we're keen to offer Cooper the opportunity to advance his career in the NRL."Vuna agreed to terms with the Knights this week following a strong performance in the Auckland Lions Premier League side at EA Stadium a fortnight ago.
"It's a huge buzz for me and I can't wait to join my new team and wear the Newcastle jersey," Vuna said.
"I'm looking forward to a new start and the chance to eventually get back on the field at NRL level.
"When the opportunity arose for him to finish the 2007 season with us we jumped at the chance," said Newcastle Knights Acting CEO, Stephen Crowe.
"He fits the player profile we're after and he'll certainly get the opportunity here that he perhaps wasn't getting at the Warriors."Vuna will arrive in Newcastle tonight.
