Broncos bound Penrith five-eighth Peter Wallace is set to ask for an early release after being dropped to Premier League for Friday's clash against the Warriors.
Wallace has been one of the Panthers bright spots this season and his demotion points to Penrith possibly looking at the long-term future with youngster Maurice Blair getting a shot in the No.6 jumper.
Controversial and out spoken Dragons five-eighth Richie Williams signed with Penrith on Monday and he's been immediately included one a five-man bench.
Williams scored two tries in his first grade debut in the opening round for the Dragons against Gold Coast, but from that moment he's been one major disappointment where his season crashed down when his trash talking of Roosters five-eighth Braith Anasta on Anzac Day backfired. After the match Anasta labeled Williams as a reserve grade player and until two weeks ago Williams has been in the lower grades.
Veteran hooker Luke Priddis has been rested for the Warriors clash with Paul Aiton getting his chance in the starting side. Priddis hasn't been in the best of form this season and is believed to be carrying a nagging injury.
The demotion of Wallace however is carrying the most furore with his manager Alan Gainey approaching Penrith General Manager Mick Leary in the hope to get him an immediate release to join Brisbane prior to the June 30 deadline.
Gainey said,
"The kid is pretty bloody devastated and his teammates aren't real happy about it, I can tell you that.
"I've spoken to Mick Leary and said, 'You've shown your hand, he's clearly not part of your plans for this year so if I can get him out I'd like to get an indication as soon as possible'.
"If they want me to make a formal application - I will. He's performed his part of the deal so I think if he wants out he should be allowed out because they have shown that he is not wanted. It's got nothing to do with form because he's been their best player all year."Wallace's Broncos bound team-mate Joel Clinton has been retained in the starting side.
The Panthers travel to Auckland to do battle with the Warriors on Friday night with the match to be delayed on Channel 9 at 9:30pm after Manly's home clash against the out of form Bulldogs.

New Penrith coach Matthew Elliott has named youngster Peter Wallace at five-eighth to replace Preston Campbell who is now with the Gold Coast Titans for Saturday's clash against Cronulla at Toyota Park.
Wallace will partner halfback Craig Gower in the halves with the centre positions to be filled by Michael Gordon and Luke Lewis who are regularly wingers.
Penrith coach Matthew Elliott is investing his faith in plenty of youth with the bench consisting of Junior Moors, Brendan Worth and Nathan Smith who have seen very little or no first grade along with Paul Aiton who played the majority of last season in the top grade.
Saturday's clash at Toyota Park will kick-off at 7:30pm.
