North Queensland captain Johnathan Thurston and forward Carl Webb have been naned in the starting side for Saturday night's 1st Preliminary Final against Manly at the SFS.
Thurston faces the judiciary tomorrow night where he'll attempt to get off a grade one dangerous throw charge and Webb missed Sunday's 49-12 victory against the Warriors in Townsville's blistering heat.
Ben Vaeau who came into the starting side for Webb last week has been named as one of the two standby players with Cowboys coach Graham Murray not tinkering with the bench that has been so successful for the Cowboys in recent times.
The hopes and fortunes of the Cowboys rest on the hands of whether they are successful in getting Thurston cleared for the big clash. Betting on the match has been suspended such is Thurston's value to the Cowboys and how his presence (or lack of) will have an influence on who wins or loses. Without Thurston the Cowboys would struggle to be competitive against the lower ranked sides in the game.

North Queensland coach Graham Murray has named prop Carl Webb in the starting line-up for Sunday's 2nd semi-final against the Warriors at Dairy Farmers Stadium.
Webb suffered a calf injury during the Cowboys controversial 20-18 victory against the Bulldogs in week one of the finals and it was expected that Webb would be unavailable for Sunday's crunch game.
Murray has however named Neil Sweeney as 18th man should Webb be unavailable for the Warriors clash.
Jacob Lillyman will take his spot on the bench after he was cleared by the match review committee following a high shot on Bulldogs fullback Luke Patten, which was just one of four penalties conceded by the Cowboys while receiving an amazing 12.
The Cowboys will again be inspired by the dynamic duo of Johnathan Thurston and Matt Bowen as they continue to dominate their opponents with their dazzling football and proving they are a class above just about the rest of the competition. Thurston is now the undisputed No.1 player in the game and Bowen is not far from being the 2nd best player.
North Queensland's home semi-final will be played on Sunday afternoon with the NRL deciding not to use commonsense and switch the game times. The heat factor will be a major disadvantage to the big and less mobile Warriors forwards, but the Cowboys have only played twice in the day time this year for two resounding losses.
Normally matches at Dairy Farmers Stadium are scheduled for the night due to Townsville's tropical heat and also the unique supporter base the Cowboys have where plenty of traveling is involved from areas such as Mackay, Charters Towers, Cairns, Ayr and even as far out as Rockhampton and Mt Isa. Those towns aren't exactly a short trip away, which is going to massively effect the crowd figures.
The match will be refereed by Tony Archer with Phil Cooley and Tim Mander in the video box.
