Mon October 23, 2006 by Matthew O'Neill Great Britain coach Brian Noble has produced one of the most controversial selection decisions of recent times with Lee Briers being omitted from the final Great Britain squad of 25. Briers was originally named in the backup squad but was sent with the squad where an impressive performance from the fringe players would see them make their way into the final squad of 25. Briers was the outstanding performer in Great Britain's 40-6 victory against Newcastle where the rest of the side failed to fire against a side made up of park footballers. Other players omitted from the squad are Ben Westwood, David Hodgson and Mick Higham. Great Britain have endured years of failure and the omission of Briers confirms why the Lions will continue to be in the Rugby League wilderness.
