Warrington Wolves forward Ben Westwood is poised to make his comeback from injury in Friday's Engage Super League qualifying semi-final against Leeds.
The England International back rower has been out for six weeks with a knee injury but was today named in coach Tony Smith's 19-man squad and captain Adrian Morley admits his return is set to provide the title favourites with a timely boost.
"He's been absolutely fantastic," Morley said. "We certainly have missed him when he's not been playing. It will give everyone a boost now he's back in the mix."
The availability of Westwood is also a timely boost for England ahead of the Four Nations Series while Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McDermott admits he will add depth to an already strong Warrington pack.
"He's been very strong for the majority of the season," McDermott said. "They will have a strong pack."
Front rower Paul Wood is now Warrington's only injury absentee while Leeds will also be virtually at full strength with the return of second rower-turned centre Carl Ablett.
Ablett has missed the Rhinos' last two games with a head knock sustained in the last match of the regular season at Huddersfield Giants a fortnight ago but has been included in McDermott's 19-man squad.
"When you are talking about heads, you can't take any risks but Carl will be there or thereabouts," he said.
McDermott looks certain to retain teenager Zak Hardaker at centre following his hat-trick heroics in last Friday's play-off win over the Giants, with Brett Delaney set to switch from the threequarters to the pack to accommodate the return of Ablett.
"We haven't quite finalised the team," added McDermottl. "We've got some options there."
Another centre, Kallum Watkins, is Leeds' only definite absentee as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.
Meanwhile, The Rhinos have begun to prepare for the departure of veteran Australian Danny Buderus by signing up young hookers Paul McShane and Liam Hood on new four-year deals.
Buderus has yet to announce his future plans and McDermott is happy to go along whatever his decision he makes.
"He's bouncing," he said. "He had one of his best games of the season on Friday.
"I don't have too much of a comment on next year but whatever happens, he'll have my full support. It's been a pleasure to coach him this year."

NRL chief video reviewer Greg McCallum says he would have recommended a suspension of between eight and ten weeks for Gareth Hock's eye gouge on Sunday.
Here at Discord we don't normally chase people around for quotes to lead our column. Gawd knows thanks to the Dally Ms I'm struggling to get through everything this week as it is! But I couldn't help but wonder how many weeks an NRL player would have got had he done what Hock did - attempt to gouge an opponent (Warrington Ben Westwood) and then punch him right in front of the referee and television cameras. He was banned for five matches by the RFL.
McCallum was happy to help - as long as we stressed he did not know the particulars of the case and was just speculating on what would have happened had it been his job to review the match.
"Gareth Hock was suspended for pushing a referee about three years ago - so that would be taken into account," McCallum said.
"The first thing I would say is that we would have referred it straight to the tribunal without a grading because I considered the offence serious enough. They don't do that in England. We try to give a 200 demerit point range in recommending suspensions as part of the prosecution case.
"I'm happy to say that I would have recommended a suspension of between eight and ten weeks. But, as I said, I am not privy to the evidence and there have been times when - during a hearing - we have revised our recommended suspension after hearing the other side of the story."
To me, Hock's actions were worse than those of Adam Blair and Glenn Stewart. I think the game's administrations get muddled up when they talk about acts which hurt "the image of the game". Do we have to check the television ratings to determine the length of a suspension?
For the purposes of a judiciary decisions, we should assume every game is live and in prime time and impose punishments accordingly.
----------
I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the Dally M Awards this year, with a return to a sit-down meal instead of guests sitting in stalls and eating nibblies. Sure, it might have seemed a tad over-scripted at times but the entertainment was great - Jeff Martin of the Tea Party doing Led Zep was awesome.
The Peter Frilingos Headline Moment Award would have prompted some debate north of the border, given that it went to Paul Gallen for his performance in the one Origin game that NSW won this year. It was a magnificent display by Gallen, though - and the Daily Telegraph is a Sydney paper. Perhaps in future the headline moment award can go to whoever is responsible for the biggest (positive) story of the year - be it a player, official or journo.
Then again, last year you could hardly give David Gallop a medal for taking two premierships off Melbourne, could you?
----------
DISCORD hears that Adrian Lam went very close to securing the Castleford job. He opted to concentrate on business interests in 2012 though. And Lammy may be back in the PNG fold soon despite his much-publicised fallout with Kumuls boss Gary Juffa.
The Kumuls are planning a two match tour of Fiji next month.
----------
FEEDBACK time and Corey, both Blair and Stewart got three weeks for fighting on the sideline. Blair was charged separately for what happened on the field and that's where his extra two weeks came from. And when it comes to more international matches, I think it's the southern hemisphere where we really have to do the work. The RLEF are doing a good job.
Dragon68, I'll get onto Fox's PR department to get the exact games and figures.
