Fri July 13, 2007 Source: www.giantsrl.com/Great Britain International Stephen Wild has signed a new three-year contract with the Huddersfield Giants until the end of the 2010 season. The contract extension brings to an end months of speculation over the 26 year old's future. The back row forward was delighted to sign the deal: "I love it here, and that's why I'm staying, I did have the opportunity to go to St Helens, and there were a number of other Super League clubs who were really interested in signing me, but I think we've got a lot of success ahead here at the Giants. Turning down clubs of this stature is a tough decision to take. But when you're as happy as you are at a club and you're getting the best coaching you've ever had, there's no way you want to leave. I've made the right choice, I'm absolutely delighted to be staying here, and I'm already seriously thinking about staying here for the rest of my career." Giants Head Coach Jon Sharp said: "I think this news sends out a clear statement. For Stephen to be courted by the top clubs in the competition and then choose to stay at the Giants is something that fills me with pride. It is confirmation for me that he is in the right place and with the right coach, and that he believes the club can continue to go forward. Stephen is a highly ambitious individual and is very keen to win things. By signing this new deal he obviously believes he can win things at the Giants and it is certainly not just a financial decision that has kept him here. He's also very happy and that counts for a great deal." Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis commented: "Stephen's commitment to us is magnificent news for the squad, the supporters and all connected with our club. Since joining us he has achieved Great Britain honours and has been a stand out player in our team. He shares our vision for the future and whilst his name had been the subject of some media speculation as is always the case with top class players I am delighted to announce that his contract is now lodged at Red Hall and his name will be on our squad list for at least the next three years."News sent by: www.giantsrl.com/
