Source: www.titans.com.auJetstar Gold Coast Titans duo Steve Michaels and Will Matthews have been recalled to a new-look line-up for Saturday night's away clash against the Cronulla Sharks at Toyota Stadium.
Michaels makes his return after being rested from last Sunday's loss to Newcastle due to a series of head knocks while Kyogle junior Will Matthews receives his chance to impress off the interchange bench in his first match for 2011 after battling some niggling injuries earlier in the year.
In other team changes, utility Luke O'Dwyer moves to lock in place of Greg Bird, who has been ruled out of the match with a hamstring injury and winger Dominique Peyroux moves into the centres for Clinton Toopi, who will drop back to the Queensland Cup with the Burleigh Bears.
With Jetstar Titans Coach John Cartwright still in hospital recovering from surgery, Assistant Coach Steve Murphy said the return of Matthews was reward for effort after a string of consistent performances for Queensland Cup feeder club Tweed Heads Seagulls.
"Will Matthews comes back into the side which is great, he's been playing very well for Tweed Seagulls and we're more than happy for him to get the opportunity,'' said Murphy.
Murphy said wholesale team changes were not the answer to the team's current predicament despite the disappointment surrounding last weekend's 50-20 loss to Newcastle.
"We're at the stage of the season where wholesale changes are not going to help us. We've got to build combinations, that's part of the reason with Dom going to the centres. He's contracted at the club for next year so we want to see how we goes there,'' he said.
The Titans have won three from seven matches against the Sharks but are yet to beat Cronulla on home soil at Toyota Stadium in three previous clashes.
"From our point of view, it's one of a few things left on our bucket list that we haven't achieved. We've never won down there and that's the approach we'll be taking into this week,'' he said.
"There's not a game we don't think we can win - we've been in every game, regardless of how we've been finishing games, we've been in the contest and for a number of reasons we haven't been able to come up with the result.''

Source: www.titans.com.auYoung forward Will Matthews has been named to make his return to the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans line-up for Saturday night's final round clash against Manly at Brookvale Oval.
The 21-year-old Kyogle kid, who played with the Tweed Heads Seagulls in the Queensland Cup semi-finals last weekend, has been promoted back into the top squad in the absence of injured forward Brad Meyers.
The in-form Meyers is battling a hand injury suffered in last weekend's 36-24 win over the Wests Tigers at Skilled Park.
After making his first grade debut in 2008, Matthews has been a regular feature on the Titans' interchange bench this season and is set to play his 14th NRL match for the year against Manly.
Fellow forward Selasi Berdie, who also played with the Seagulls last weekend, has been named on an extended five-man interchange bench.
Jetstar Titans coach John Cartwright said prop Luke Bailey was also in some doubt due to illness but a decision on his fitness would be made later in the week.
"Meyers has got a bit of a problem with his hand and Bailey has been pretty crook this week,'' said Cartwright.
"We'll probably give Bailey a bit later in the week and see how he is.
"We'll give him until the end of the week, he doesn't really need to participate in any field sessions at the moment.
"It's a good chance to freshen him up actually.''
The Titans head to Sydney this weekend searching for their first win at Brookvale Oval having been beaten in the club's two visits to the ground to date.
