Source: www.parraeels.com.auThe Pirtek Parramatta Eels will play at Parramatta Stadium for the first time in 2011 this Friday night when they take on the Penrith Panthers in a blockbuster local derby.
The Eels have made just one change to the side that defeated the Warriors in Round 1 with Paul Whatuira making his debut for the Eels in the centres, coming in for the injured Chris Walker.
Winger Luke Burt, who passed 1500 career points last weekend in a 16-point haul, is now just one try away from Brett Kenny's club record of 110 tries.
A huge home crowd is expected to welcome coach Stephen Kearney to Parramatta Stadium for the first time and he is keen to make the Eels' home games as difficult as possible for oppositions.
"It's always important and special when we play in front of a home crowd," Kearney says.
"The lads have spoken about it in depth over the summer, about making it a real fortress in the sense of when teams come, that they come for a real contest.
"I think that will be the case this Friday night, given how the Panthers performed last week and the fact they've been copping some criticism means this will be a great opportunity for us to make sure we perform very well."

Source: www.parraeels.com.auThe Pirtek Parramatta Eels have announced their 20-man squad heading to New Zealand to play the Warriors in their first trial match of 2011 on Saturday night at Rotorua International Stadium, kicking off at 5.30pm NZ Time.
Eels forward Shane Shackleton makes his long-awaited return to the rugby league field after spending almost all of 2010 recovering from a horrific hamstring injury that occurred in Round 1.
New recruits Chris Walker, Paul Whatuira and Chris Hicks will play in the blue and gold for the first time while Casey McGuire plays his first game for the Eels in more than 12 years.
Coach Stephen Kearney will also be coaching the Parramatta Eels for the first time and is excited about the new faces in the squad.
"I'm looking forward to seeing the results from the structures we have put in place for the past three months," he says.
"We have a number of new and young players who will be playing for the Club for the first time and that is the most important aspect for me."
